(HealthNewsDigest.com) - Ridgewood, NJ, August 15, 2018 - Many people might desire more shape or lift to their booty but don’t want to undergo invasive surgery to achieve it. That’s where a great new option comes in: Injectable filler, which can augment the butt without the need for incisions or post-surgical recovery, according to Sonoa Au, MD of Advanced Dermatology P.C.

An increasingly popular option for butt augmentation over the past several years, injectable fillers are already well-known for their use in the face and other areas to plump up lines and other deflated features. Indeed, soft tissue fillers comprised 2.6 million of the more than 15 million cosmetic procedures done in 2016, according to the American Society of Plastic Surgeons.

Now dermatologists and plastic surgeons are using the injectable known as Sculptra as an alternative to surgical butt lifts. By injecting the buttock area with this specific type of lactic acid – a naturally occurring substance in the body that can’t provoke an allergic response – doctors are able to offer the benefits of a surgical augmentation without the risks and downtime of surgery.

“We can create changes in butt contour and shape that are subtle but noticeable and improve over time,” says Dr. Au, who specializes in dermatology. “Our clients are very happy to get a rounder tush that looks better in or out of their clothes.”
How fillers plump the booty
Two surgical options exist for butt augmentation: The first, known as the “Brazilian butt lift,” takes fat from another body area using liposuction and grafts it into the buttocks instead. The second involves placing artificial butt implants into the area in an even more complex procedure, according to Dr. Au.

But only Sculptra offers the only non-invasive way to plumper posterior. In this quick procedure, the filler is injected into specifically designated areas the patient desires to be rounder or higher, including areas of bumps or dimples. Afterward, patients can go right back to normal activities. But how does the Sculptra work?

Essentially, the filler stimulates the body to produce its own collagen – a type of naturally occurring protein – to grow around the filler. While results are visible immediately, they also keep improving over the next six weeks as more collagen is produced. “It generally takes a few injection sessions, spaced every two or three months, to achieve the full effect,” Dr. Au explains.

Advantages of non-surgical butt lifts
While Sculptra butt augmentation, like any procedure, involves risks, they are minimal compared to the liposuction or open surgery required for the other options. Plus, some patients don’t have fat that can be harvested via liposuction or is simply not interested in undergoing any invasive procedure, Dr. Au says.

“While Sculptra needs to be injected more than once, the once-and-done nature of surgical butt enhancement is balanced by the lack of downtime required with the filler procedure,” she adds.

Ultimately the personal preference determines which choice people make when desiring a butt lift or rounder booty. “But it’s always better to have more options, and using injectable filler to create a rounder, smoother bottom is a great choice to add to all we can offer patients nowadays,” Dr. Au says.
