The Dangers of Online Botox

While it's a dangerous and potentially deadly line of flawed reasoning, it's unfortunately one that has latched onto masses of consumers desperate to look younger while stoking the greed of online marketers who are cashing in on the unregulated - and illegal - sale of Botox over the Internet.
On one such "medical" supply web site you can purchase a 100 IU vial of so-called Botox and a set of instructions for $149. The legitimate medical community is rightly outraged by what they consider to be an unscrupulous purveying of questionable-grade Botox to unwitting customers, blinded by the desire to cosmetically turn back the clock.
There has been at least one reported death caused by the use of Botox purchased online and a growing number of cases of people who injected themselves with Botox and ended up with paralyzed muscles or vocal chords or other serious outcomes.
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration approved the use of Botox by cosmetic physicians for the removal of facial lines and wrinkles. You cannot purchase authentic medical-grade Botox without a prescription. Furthermore, only a qualified physician has the skill, the knowledge and the training in its proper use.
Many doctors have serious doubts about the quality of the Botox products sold online and suspect that what is actually being sold in some instances is research-grade material that is unsuitable for cosmetic injections. The Botox may contain other ingredients that may be harmful, or no Botox at all.
How can all this be happening in a nation as medically advanced as the United States? Simple. The Internet is a vast, unregulated worldwide marketplace of ideas but also of illicit products which can be obtained for a price. But in the end is the risk of causing death or permanent disfigurement from a botched self-injection of Botox worth the online bargain price?
Don't take your life and your good looks into your own hands with online cosmetic marketing ploys. Consult with a qualified plastic surgeon about the benefits and drawback of Botox.
