(HealthNewsDigest.com) - There are many people out there who are unsatisfied with the way they look, and wish they could do something about it. Whether they want to lose weight, improve their skin, or simply get rid of an old tattoo, these people now have the ability to do so thanks to recent medical innovations involving lasers. We now have more tools at our disposal to keep ourselves healthy, and get the look we've been after. Below are just some of the many laser techniques that are out there that can help you get the look you desire.

Laser Hair Removal

Do you have hair showing up in an unwanted place? Many of us do, and now thanks to laser hair removal procedures, we can get rid of it. Using an intense, pulsating light beam, hair is removed from your body and prevented from returning by damaging the hair follicle underneath. So if you are tired of shaving or waxing those hairs away, laser hair removal may be the option for you.

Laser Tattoo Removal

Next, lasers also have the ability to remove tattoos from our skin. That tattoo you have may have seemed like a good idea at the time, but years later you wish it were gone. The process is not an easy one, but it may be worth it if you have a particularly embarrassing tattoo you would like to remove.

Here's how it works: When you get a tattoo, ink particles are inserted into your skin. The white blood cells in your body recognize these as foreign objects, and begin working to remove them. As the white blood cells work on the tattoo, it will slowly fade over time. However, since many of the ink particles are larger than the white blood cells, they cannot make it go away entirely. And this is where the laser comes in. Using intense heat, the ink particles are broken up into smaller pieces so that the white blood cells can tackle them.

The process of having a laser break up the ink particles will usually be done over several sessions, can be rather costly, potentially leave scarring, and be rather uncomfortable. So while the option is there if you need it, you should not think of it as a quick way to get rid of a tattoo. Keep this in mind the next time you are about to get inked. Body Shaping

Lastly, lasers can alter the way our body looks through a process called Body Shaping. This process is ideal for people who are already in decent physical condition, but would like a little extra help getting the body they desire. The process works like this - using a laser, pulses are sent through pads that are attached to the body. These pulses work to break down fat cells below the upper layer of skin, making them easier to flush out either through the urinary tract or through exercise.

Body shaping sessions last roughly 20 minutes, and are fairly painless. They involve a body shaping machine- like the ones made by Syneron - and are run by doctors Some people report a slight tingling from the pads, while others report nothing at all. Body shaping is not meant as a weight loss routine, and will not work on people who are overweight. However if you have been working out recently, and sticking to your diet, body shaping sessions could be that final thing to get you to your goal.

Using Lasers To Look Your Best

Lasers are no longer simply the weapons used in science fiction movies. Each day they are helping people get the bodies they are after. By using different laser techniques, you can now get rid of that embarrassing tattoo, remove unwanted hair, and even shed those last few pounds from your body. And as time progresses, we are sure to see even more uses for this technology that will help us to look even better.
