Dr. Donald Roland Hosts Annual Party for Vanity 4 Humanity
Jul 2, 2013 - 2:54:29 PM
Vanity 4 Humanity began as an undertaking to aid breast cancer survivors in the Dominican Republic by performing breast reconstruction pro bono. The organization has expanded to provide general plastic reconstruction, disaster relief and other types of aid to the people of Haiti since the devastating earthquake of 2010. Vanity for Humanity's mission statement is to "provide state of the art reconstructive surgery to women and children in third world countries who otherwise would be left with a reminder of what disease and injuries took from them."
Aside from providing funds for medical supplies needed to perform surgeries on Haitian children born with impairments and deformities, the Annual White Party aims to serve the people of Haiti in other ways as well. With the $43,500 raised on June 1st due to the generosity of the 250 attendees, students will receive a formal education through sponsorship and a new school will be able to be built. The money will also help purchase land for children to learn agriculture and cultivation techniques, assist with malnutrition efforts, sponsor orphans at Nord Est Lutheran Orphanage, aid in providing proper care for the elderly, and other medical services. The event was made a success thanks to the many companies that donated to the Live, Silent & Reverse auction, which played a large role in raising monies.
