( - The 2016 summer driving season is officially underway.  Although the national average of $2.32 a gallon is the lowest gas price for this time of year in more than a decade, higher-than-normal gasoline demand coupled with regional refinery issues have put upward pressure on retail pump prices, reports AAA.  The Midwest region is posting the nation's largest decline in gasoline inventories, which fell for the 15thweek straight to the lowest level of the year.  During the past week, crude oil climbed to $50 a barrel in the U.S. trading market due to tight supplies coupled with high demand.  Wildfires in the Canadian Oil Sands helped to boost the price of crude to its highest level of the year while creating supply issues for U.S. oil refineries it serves in the Great Lakes region.  For more information on fuel prices, visit

Demonstrating "Nebraska Nice",  AAA Provides Free Service to CWS Fans

AAA - The Auto Club Group, will once again provide free roadside assistance to College World Series fans at or near TD Ameritrade Park in Omaha.  Services available include jumpstarts, tire changes, fuel delivery, and towing.  Some restrictions and/or limitations may apply.  Other automotive related services may be available.  A roadside assistance AAA fleet operations driver will be on site at the ball park from noon to 10 pm daily, June 17 through the final championship game, which will be held on June 28 or 29.  The AAA service vehicle will be stationed with the Omaha Police Department mobile command unit located in Lot F.  To receive service, a car owner may contact an Omaha police officer stationed at or near TD Ameritrade Park, or they may contact AAA at 1-800-AAA-NEBR.  Proof of vehicle ownership may be required for certain services.  

Education Grants Available to Teachers in Nebraska - Deadline October 1

The Cornhusker Motor Club Foundation is offering grant opportunities to assist Nebraska K-12 educators. Funding opportunities include traditional grants in amounts up to $2,000, and literacy/book grants up to $500.  Traditional grants are designed to fund innovative programs, school events, community volunteerism efforts, or projects that will significantly enhance the students' classroom experience.  Literacy/book grants may be used for classroom or library reading materials that will challenge and excite students.  Any employee of a public, private, or parochial school, grades K-12 in Nebraska may apply.  The online application process is fast and easy.   Details can be found at  This year's submission deadline is October 1, 2016.
