(HealthNewsDigest.com) - Longer days, the sun's warmth, that relaxing feeling of sand between your toes, and balmy breezes make summer a favorite season for so many of us. But it's easy to get lazy in the summer and slack on your daily skincare routine. Hot weather and humidity can wreak havoc on your skin if you neglect it.

These tips will help you glide through summer beautifully and look great for your vacay:

1. Sunscreen Is Non-Negotiable

You already know that you need to wear sunscreen. But most people do not know how to use it correctly for maximum effectiveness. Beverly Hills Dermatologist Monika Kiripolsky recommends applying a broad-spectrum sunscreen of at least SPF30. "Apply it at least 15-20 minutes before you are going to be exposed to the sun. Use a generous amount and reapply often it only lasts for a couple of hours; and reapply after swimming or sweating," she says and recommends ZO® Skin Health Oclipse® Sunscreen + Primer SPF30.

2. Keep Pigmentation In Check

Avoid getting sunburned, but if you do get burned, take steps to bring the inflammation down as soon as possible to minimize any possible pigment changes to your skin. This goes for bug bites, cuts, and scrapes too. Look for products with antinflammatory properties to soothe sunburn, heal blisters quickly, and prevent skin from peeling. For example, Neova DNA Total Repair includes a plankton-derived ingredient that is hyper-efficient in reducing the visible sign of UV insults to the skin.

3. Choose the Right Cleanser

Regular exfoliation keeps pore open and gets rid of the daily build up of debris and excess oil that humidity causes. Self-tanners also go on more smoothly and evenly on exfoliated skin. Choose a facial cleaner that suits your skin type. Use a gentle cleanser if you have sensitive skin, and an oil-controlling formula if you tend to break out. For acne-prone skin, try Clinique Acne Solutions Cleansing Foam. It unclogs pores with salicylic acid and helps to fight present and future blemishes. The new Clinique Sonic System is must-have tool for deeper cleansing.

4. Protect Your Hands and Feet

Sandals and flip-flops expose your feet and you will feel more confident with summer ready toes. Use an exfoliating scrub on your feet to keep them smooth, like CND Marine Salt Scrub. For severely dry feet and heels, try slathering on Neutrogena Foot Cream and cover with socks just before you go to sleep at night. When you are outdoors don't forget to apply sunscreen on your hands and the tops of your feet to prevent premature signs of age due to sun damage.

5. Keep Hair Under Control

Nothing makes you want to hide your legs like stubble in between shaving. Hair grows faster in warmer weather too. It's always a good time to trade up to laser hair removal that works quickly and lasts and will keep your calves, thighs, bikini line, underarms, and forearms smooth and fuzz-free. According to Andrea and Liza Young, co-founders of Beam Laser Spa in New York City, "Our laser of choice is the GentleMax from Syneron Candela, which is FDA-approved for permanent hair reduction. It is a dual-wavelength (both Alexandrite and nd:Yag) laser that gives remarkable results that our clients can enjoy with the speed of light."

6. Go For The Matte

After exfoliation, moisturize your skin with a gel or lotion. Creams are often too rich for summertime and can cause blackheads to flourish. Be sure that the moisturizer you choose is noncomedogenic so it won't clog pores or cause breakouts. Dr. Brandt Skincare Pores No More Anti-Aging Mattifying Lotion absorbs quickly and includes apple stem cells and retinol to help delay the appearance of lines, wrinkles, and dark spots. For daytime, use a moisturizer with an SPF, like the uber luxe Natura Bisse THE CURE Sheer Oil-Free Fluid SPF20 that goes on silky smooth and adds a touch of color.

7. Don't Sweat It

When temperatures rise, sweating can be an unwanted nuisance. Put an end to the embarrassment of underarm sweat with miraDry® that eliminates underarm sweat glands. According to New York plastic surgeon Bryan G. Forley, "miraDry is the only FDA-cleared non-invasive procedure that offers long lasting reduction of underarm sweat. The dramatic effects of reduced perspiration and odor are seen immediately following treatment."
