(HealthNewsDigest.com) - 1. Start your exfoliating ritual now. It is important to do this twice a week. Perspiration and oil production increase during warm weather, causing a faster accumulation of dead cells. Exfoliating removes the ashen, dull surface layer of dead cells and allows lotion to better penetrate the skin, leaving the body silky smooth. Exfoliation also increases blood flow, which reduces the appearance of cellulite.

For a soothing facial exfoliant, the RockResorts Spa at The Arrabelle uses Golden Grain Gommage by Arcona. This enzymatic exfoliant is comprised of fatty acids and oatmeal and lemon extract that deeply cleanse, tone and refine facial tissue. To keep your body hydrated, we recommend trying Lemon Verbena Body Polish, a creamy polish infused with shea butter that we use in our Mountain Wildflower Body Scub treatment.

2. Choose a smarter makeup line. Many spas and cosmetic companies are coming out with mineral makeup, most of these lines have an SPF of 15- 20 built into them. If you use sunscreen underneath your mineral makeup you are further protecting yourself against sun damage.

At the RockResorts Spa at Lodge at Vail we carry Jane Iredale Mineral Makeup, which has SPF 20. We offer free makeup applications for guests to familiarize them with this makeup line.

3. Remember to moisturize your skin, especially when it’s exposed to sun. Some of the best products we can recommend for summer use are: Pevonia Hydrating Sunscreen with SPF 30, Naturopathica’s Laevender UV Protective Cream with SPF 17 and our own RockResorts Sunscreen with SPF 30. The Moisture Replenishing facial at The RockResorts Spa at The Arrabelle at Vail Square uses all natural ingredients to replenish the skin at the cellular level, leaving it nourished and re-energized, and concludes with a hand Paraffin dip to further moisturize the skin. Some natural ingredients include chamomile, rose/geranium, carrot seed, calendul. Many of these anti-inflammatory ingredients aid in cell regeneration, repair broken capillaries and restore skin to its natural PH levels.

After all of our facials treatments we offer the guest the option of an application of Sunscreen, this makes sure they are protected when leaving to go outdoors. Remember to reapply sunscreen during sports and after going into the water.

4. Stay hydrated! Repeated sun exposure causes water to evaporate from the skin and summertime heat increases sweating rates. Dehydrated skin causes the appearance of scaly, dull, stiff skin. Stay hydrated by drinking 5-8 glasses of water per day and eating plenty of fruits and vegetables.

5. Cover up! Make sure to always wear a hat & sunglasses if you are outdoors for activities.
