(HealthNewsDigest.com) - The stress and various other factors that can accompany an individual as they make their way through life, gradually aging in a natural manner, can take a toll on the way that person looks. The older we get, the more time starts to wear away at our features, which can do its part in eroding our confidence and self-esteem.

This could reflect on us in different ways; we can become less sociable because we don't like others noticing the increasing amounts of aesthetic imperfections or it could make a person feel depressed every time they are reminded of their waning looks, no matter how remotely implied.

Not a fad

To break this cycle of negative thought patterns more and more people are turning to plastic surgery to improve their appearances. Today, plastic and cosmetic surgery is no longer a concept only relevant for the extremely rich or famous. In 2013 alone over a hundred and thirty thousand face lift procedures took place in the US, making it one of the most popular cosmetic surgeries in the country.

The man for the job

However, since the entire notion of a face lift surgery is to improve the aesthetic appearances, it makes sense to select a remarkable, qualified, and certified cosmetic surgeon like Dr. Vito C. Quatela. With decades of experience under his belt, multiple board certifications and even an active charity organizer, finding a more accomplished professional for the job would be very hard indeed.

When do you need a face lift?

This is a question most patients ask themselves, mostly to figure out when would be the right timing to get the most out of the procedure. The best answer to this would be to get a face lift sooner rather than later. At a time when the first signs of ageing start to set in; skin sagging around the jaw-line, wrinkles forming around the face, the throat skin beginning to gather in lose skin folds.

This is when the body is producing less collagen; the protein that provides elasticity to the skin giving it structure and form. However, there is still adequate amount of it being produced to allow the outcome of the procedure to develop the best results since the stretched skin would be supple enough to adhere to the surgery. Combined with Blepharoplasty, the difference could be positively astonishing. If the decision to undergo a face lift is left till much later in life the skin would not appear to be naturally taught and seem to be strained and stretched due to lack of its elastic properties.

The procedure

During the operation, incisions are made along the hair line near the temples, the incisions are drawn along this line around the ears. If excess skin it to be removed in the neck region, an incision is made under the chin. These incisions are made to hide any scar formations after the healing process concludes.

Extra fatty tissues are removes through these incisions and connective tissues are tightened. The skin is the carefully stretched back into position and the excess is trimmed. The incisions are closed using surgical sutures and the head and face are wrapped in a bandage. The entire process takes anything from three to five hours.

Post operation

The patient would able to resume normal functions within a few days. The healing process is slow, but the rewards outstrip most other procedures. After the healing process in complete, the patient could look ten to fifteen years younger and the effects are longer lasting than most noninvasive procedures such as skin resurfacing.
