(HealthNewsDigest.com) - Now there’s a new treatment for people living with chronic pain. It’s called an IVIVI, and it’s a FDA-cleared topical device that fits over the affected area and emits PEMF – Pulsed Electromagnetic Field Therapy that stimulates cell and tissue regeneration and heals pain. PEMF uses highly-refined electromagnetic fields to non-invasively “jumpstart” the body’s natural anti-inflammatory response to treat pain successfully and help soft tissue wounds heal faster. PEMF has proven to be highly-effective in aiding bone growth, healing soft tissue wounds and reducing pain and edema.

Two additional reasons to consider PEMF technology for pain management for a large population of patients are The American Heart Association guidelines urging restricted use of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), and the increased frequency and danger of drug interaction overdoses. What’s more IVIVI believes that PEMF therapy is as significant a medical breakthrough as anesthesia was to surgery and antibiotics were to infectious disease.

The IVIVI comes in several styles and colors and is available with a prescription. The basic unit looks like a circular, hollow sphere about the size of a 9-inch dinner plate with a small, battery-powered electromagnet attached. The device is placed over the affected area, under or over clothing or bandaging and can be kept in place with bandages or surgical tape. It emits a silent, painless electromagnetic frequency for 30 consecutive minutes every four hours.

PEMF has been recognized as a valuable tool for healing injured tissue and encouraging tissue repair.for an ever-widening assortment of pain and soft tissue injuries ranging from post-operative therapy, surgical pain and wound care, to arthritis, plantar fasciitis and diabetic ulcers.

Sean Hagberg, Ph.D., Chief Science Officer of Ivivi Technologies, Inc. of Montvale, NJ, advises using the IVIVI medical device as part of a comprehensive pain management program. He has the following advice for people living with chronic pain:

·Learn to relax – understand your body, and know when it's time to slow down

·Manage your stress level -- Pain gets worse the more stress you're under. Learn to recognize toxic situations, and practice stress reduction techniques.

· Utilize PEMF – pulsed electromagnetic field therapy as directed by your physician to gradually eliminate pain by stimulating circulation and encouraging cell and tissue regeneration.

· Get enough sleep -- Not only will you feel better rested and less stressed, the 7 or 8 hours of sleep actually encourages cell and tissue regeneration.

· Exercise – begin a regular, moderate exercise program designed to utilize the joints and tissue in the affected area. Start slow, repeat often, but don't overdo.

· Keep a pain diary – You'll be amazed at your findings, and will eventually modify your habits to alleviate your pain.

The potential for PEMF therapy is extensive – upcoming applications for PEMF may include signals developed to treat Parkinson’s, Arthritis, Alzheimer’s, cancer, heart disease, migraine, and menstrual cramps, among others. For more information about IVIVI, please visit: www.ivivitechnologies.com .
