Work 1st, Results 2nd

How do you feel after reading the title of this article? Does it make you feel sad or frustrated?
(HealthNewsDigest.com) - Wouldn't it be much easier if you could obtain the results first in your career and then put in the work? Just imagine it. You wouldn't have to worry about your career goal anymore because you would have already reached it. Uncertainty would be non-existent. You would have clarity, focus, power, and purpose. You would be secure in where your career was headed, and you would feel good about it. No reservations. No fear.
Unfortunately life (and your career) does not work this way. You put in the work and your goal is achieved as a result. The timetable may not be to your liking, but you can achieve your goal if you put in the time and effort to reach it.
So how do you know that the effort will be worth it? You don't. All you ever get is an upfront feeling in your gut about what feels right or wrong. If you listen to that feeling, you are headed in the right direction. If you don't listen, you end up somewhere else.
So, How Do You Gear Yourself Up To Do The Work When You Don't Have Your Result Yet? Follow These 3 Steps Below.
1. Recognize Your Desire To Have The Results First
It's the same as wanting dessert before you eat your meal. It's in our nature to want something easy and delicious instead of something that is hard and does not taste as good. Just because you want easy, doesn't mean easy is in your best interest. The best rewards in your career come from doing the hard work first. Plus, your result will count more when you put more into it. Maybe in the moment you want to be comfortable, but being comfortable won't push you and won't get your closer to your goal.
2. Understand That There Are No Guarantees
There is no way around hard work. Most people understand and accept this statement. And, the majority of people I speak to will put in the work, but only if there is a guarantee (first) that the work will produce the result they want. Then, they are full steam ahead. But what if you don't get the guarantee you are looking for? Does that mean you don't move forward until you do? Of course not. You choose a goal, do the work, and hope for the best.
Although you may not get the guarantee you are looking for, you do get something else which is better--moments of inspiration that you (hopefully) act upon. Then, as you are working on your goal, you realize that sometimes you are on track, and at other times you don't have as much clarity. But you keep working on your goal anyway because deep inside you know that you are doing the right thing. So basically, you keep following that feeling and that's how you reach your result.
Bottom line: there are no guarantees, so don't expect one. You achieve your goals when you follow your gut instincts and you keep putting in the work until you get there.
3. Appreciate That Results Come Slowly Over Time
And, that they are not always quick or easy. Just because something is slow, does not mean it won't happen. Slow means you get used to the place you are headed and it gives you time to get acclimated to your new destination. Slow means you minimize mistakes. Slow means you get your questions answered. All good things. Slow and steady wins the race. You may not know how long the race is, or where (or when) it will end, but you will get to the finish line if you keep racing.
So, what do you say? You only have one life to live, so it might as well be a life you love!
