(HealthNewsDigest.com) - ATLANTA, – The American Medical Association (AMA) and Dell announced today that they are collaborating to help physicians adopt useful health information technology such as electronic medical records (EMR), ePrescribing, and laboratory services through the AMA’s new health information solutions platform for physicians, which will launch nationally later this year.
The new AMA platform is aimed at helping practicing physicians assess and meet their clinical and practice needs. It will provide physicians access to information, products, services, and resources to help facilitate medical practice and ease adoption of health information technology. The AMA will partner with physicians and their practice staff from the initial selection of products and services through implementation to ensure meaningful results. The platform is currently being beta tested in Michigan in collaboration with the Michigan State Medical Society.
“Physicians are the front line of our health care system and with the AMA’s new platform we can help them be more efficient and better connected,” said AMA Board Member Steven Stack, M.D. “We are not just connecting physicians with the tools and resources to run their practice, we are helping to create a community for physicians to share information and better coordinate and manage patient care.”
“We are proud to work with the AMA on this innovative new model for accelerating EMR adoption among independent physician practices,” said Jamie Coffin, Ph.D., vice president of Dell Healthcare and Life Sciences. “With this platform, we are helping physicians adopt practical technical solutions in order to knock down barriers to the adoption and meaningful use of digital patient info across the healthcare system.”
