(HealthNewsDigest.com) - New York, NY -With 2012 coming to a close and a healthy 2013 being top of mind, ZocDoc just revealed the most preventive health appointments booked by residents in 2012 via ZocDoc (as a percentage of total appointments). So who made the cut? Don't let the BBQ fool you - Austin tops the list for the most health conscious city, followed by Orlando, Denver, Washington DC and Detroit rounding out the top 5 (full list below).

  • Cities starting with ‘P' are on top of their health!
    • Portland is the most skin conscious city, with more dermatology bookings than any other market

o        Philadelphians take care of their pearly whites, as these residents book the most dentist appointments

o        Phoenix takes the cake for most primary care appointments booked

 

  • More than 1 in 3 ZocDoc appointments are booked outside of ‘office hours' - 38% of appointments, to be exact

·         On average women book 8% more appointments than men

o    The only ZocDoc market where men book more appointments than women is Fort Myers, Florida

 

o    Women in San Francisco and Tampa book only ~1% more appointments  than men in those cities

  • Cities that book the most same day appointments are 1) Los Angeles, 2) Las Vegas, 3) Phoenix, 4) Orange County and 5) Long Island
  • New York City is the most digitally savvy coming in at #1 for the most mobile appointments booked*; Long Island, N. New Jersey, Baltimore, Orange County, DC and Chicago follow closely behind NYC
  • January is most popular month to book an appointment
