Two Thousand to March for Epilepsy in the Northwest

( - SEATTLE, May 1, 2012 -- Over two thousand or more people will march in eight cities throughout the northwest for the 10th Annual Northwest Run/Walk for Epilepsy. The events will occur on Saturday, June 16 in Seattle, Portland, Tacoma, Tri-Cities, Hermiston, Anchorage and Juneau, and on Saturday, June 9 in Spokane. All events benefit the Epilepsy Foundation Northwest.

"Everyone is invited to participate in the Run/Walk events to support people living with epilepsy in their community," said Brent Herrmann, CEO. "We are thrilled to have eight cities participating in this annual event to help bring awareness and funds to people in need."

Proceeds from the multi-city walks support uncompensated programs and services including Camp Discovery for children with epilepsy and their siblings, year-round educational and support groups, self-advocacy and mentoring programs, emergency medication assistance, and seizure response training programs for school nurses and personnel, first responders and employers.

The Northwest Run/Walk for Epilepsy in Anchorage is hosted by the Stone Soup Group, in Tri-Cities by the Arc of Tri-Cities, and in Hermiston by the Arc of Umatilla County.

Sponsors include MultiCare Health System, NWCN (Northwest Cable News), Providence Health and Services, Providence Medical Group-Spokane, Potlatch Corporation, Lundbeck, and various Run/Walk teams from corporations and epilepsy health centers around the northwest.
