Breastfeeding, Childbirth and Parenting Experts Gather for La Leche League International 50th Anniversary Conference
(HealthNewsDigest.com) - SCHAUMBURG, Ill., July 11 -- World-recognized experts on breastfeeding, childbirth and parenting will gather at the Hilton Chicago for the La Leche League International Conference and Seminar for Physicians, "Celebrating the Power of Breastfeeding," from July 20 - 23, 2007.
The conference, which this year celebrates the 50th anniversary of La Leche League, attracts breastfeeding educators, health care providers, La Leche League volunteers and parents with babies and children from over 44 countries. In addition to educational sessions the conference features exhibits, poster presentations and networking opportunities for attendees.
Some of those presenting at the conference include: William Sears, MD and his wife Martha who support millions of parents through 30 parenting books, articles, and appearances on television programs such as 20/20, Good Morning America, Oprah, CNN, NBC's Today Show and Dateline; and anthropologist James McKenna, PhD. McKenna is known worldwide for his cutting-edge research on SIDS and co-sleeping done at the University of Notre Dame Mother-Baby Behavioral Sleep Laboratory.
Also speaking will be Peter Hartmann of the Human Lactation Group and the University of Western Australia.
Other well known experts attending are Nils Bergman, MD; Kathleen Kendall- Tackett, PhD; Jack Newman, MD; and Peggy O'Mara, founder of Mothering Magazine. Conference attendees will hear speakers addressing topics as diverse as maternity legislation, depression in postpartum mothers, natural childbirth, the use of indigenous foods, vaccines, HIV and breastfeeding, kangaroo care, attachment parenting and more.
