"Healthcare in the United States is undergoing a radical change, and our students will be there to meet the challenge," said Executive Director, Judith Bentkover, PhD. "Given the program structure, students can immediately bring back lessons learned to implement transformative change within their own organizations."
The program launched with guest speakers, physicians Jerome Groopman and Pamela Hartzband, authors of Your Medical Mind, and Stuart Altman, Brandeis University Professor of National Health Policy and author of the recent Power, Politics, and Universal Health Care. Healthcare professionals, including patient advocate Marlene McCarthy, Care New England CEO Dennis Keefe, Blue Cross Blue Shield CFO Mike Hudson and others engaged with the students during a panel discussion on leadership challenges in healthcare.
The Executive Master of Healthcare Leadership program positions graduates to lead in the provider, corporate, and public sectors, and to implement solutions that deliver outstanding patient services and sustainable fiscal health for their organizations. The curriculum address the key issues facing leaders in clinical care, insurance, product and device manufacturing, as well as those in legal and regulatory settings, and focuses on the needs of healthcare organizations as they implement new legislation such as the Affordable Care Act while seeking to contain costs.
The leaders graduating from Brown's Healthcare Leadership program will be faced with the responsibility of transforming healthcare in America.
