(HealthNewsDigest.com) - While the number of senior living communities continues to grow in the United States, so does the amount of stress on their caregivers, a growing business trend several companies are addressing by turning to workplace caregivers Marketplace Chaplains.
America's largest and original workplace chaplaincy organization has a Senior Living division with specially trained chaplains to care for these caregivers.  Senior Living Chaplains has a dedicated websitewww.seniorlivingchaplains.com.
"We have been so happy with this service. It's something that saved my staff and saved me because I don't have the time to deal with this personally every day, but the chaplains have helped our company greatly," said Jay Manning, owner and sub-franchisor of Idaho-based Bee Hive Homes.
The chaplains help address a trend recently exposed in a story in the Workforce Magazine1 titled "Caring for the Caregiver."
"The stress of caregiving is not something employees can leave at the door. Employers need to provide resources and create a culture where caregiving is understood in order to best support their employees," indicated Sarah Sipek in the story.
According to a 2015 Ceridian HCM Inc. study, "Double Duty: The Caregiving Crisis in the Workplace," 15% of the U.S. workforce is currently caring for an elder loved one. Furthermore, 29% of those caregivers have reduced or adjusted their weekly hours in order to juggle their caregiving responsibilities. And it's taking a toll on their health, too. The same study found that beyond the obvious stress that most caregivers admit to feeling, 45% are also experiencing weight problems, while 52% report anxiety.
While Marketplace Chaplains continue to serve stressed employees and their family members in the workplace, Senior Living Chaplains was established to especially help those local caregivers in the senior communities who deal with sick and elderly patients every day.
"We need local people to help in local needs and be involved in local citizens living in our homes. Senior Living Chaplains just adds to the culture of caring for our entire community," said Andy Eby, Co-President of Bickford Senior Living, the first Marketplace Senior Living client company, who has seen huge growth in his family senior living communities, which is spread out across numerous states.
According to the U.S. government organization, Administration on Aging, people 65 and older represented 14.1% of the American population in the year 2013 and are expected to grow to be 21.7% of the population by 2040.2
Among the senior organizations which now use Marketplace Chaplains Senior Living are Kansas-based Bickford Senior Living, along with Bee Hive Homes, Touchstone Communities, based in Texas, along with Louisiana's Central Management Company among others.
"As our senior population continues to grow older, we are grateful for these savvy CEOs who are taking care of their employees and who take such good care of their elderly clients," said Marketplace Chaplains Executive President & CEO Doug Fagerstrom.
