(HealthNewsDigest.com) - Teenagers with cancer, and those in remission, will participate in the sixth annual Teen Winter Camp Jan. 15-17, sponsored by Camp Quality Heartland. Camp Quality Heartland is a non-profit, all-volunteer organization that provides free year-round activities and support programs for children with cancer and their families.
The camp provides an opportunity to have fun and develop stronger bonds. All expenses are paid, including transportation to and from the camp site.
“The teens bond during camp. They help each other, whether it’s helping someone get up the steps or ride a sled down a hill for the first time,” said Murray Fenn, director of Camp Quality Heartland.
During the camp, teens will participate in a variety of activities, including sledding, snowman making, snowball throwing, board games, movies, video games, and a bonfire.
Last year, 33 from Nebraska and Iowa attended the camp, which will be held at the Guthrie Grove Retreat Center North of Guthrie Center, Iowa.
The teens will meet at the University of Nebraska Medical Center then depart in a bus for camp.
Camp Quality Heartland is part of Camp Quality USA, is a non-profit organization. Programs are possible because of corporate and community support, and volunteers
