(HealthNewsDigest.com) - October 22 - Hairstyle trends may come and go, but braids are here to stay! So maybe you weren't born with flawless French braiding skills? Build up your braiding confidence with these tips from The Cricket Company's rockstar stylist Melissa Peverini, who works with Rod Stewart among other performers.

INSIDE OUT BRAID
1. Begin by detangling and smoothing hair with the Cricket Friction Free Paddle Brush.
2. Separate hair into three sections and cross the right strand under the center, then cross the left strand under the center.
3. Using your right pointer finger, section from the side of your head to the middle of the back. Add this hair to the right strand.
4. Cross the right strand under the center strand and pull braid tight.
5. Move all three sections of hair to the right hand and add some hair to the left strand.
6. Cross the left strand under the center strand and continue by adding and alternating strands. Continue with this basic inside-out braid, always crossing the outside strand of hair under the center strand.
7. Use the Cricket Amped Up Teasing Brush to smooth any bumps there may be on the base, then use the tail of the brush to pull out knots for a more textured braid.

WATERFALL BRAID

1. Use the Cricket Detangler Brush to detangle hair.

2. Take a small section at the front hairline and divide this section into three parts. Prepare to braid diagonally around one side of the head, as opposed to straight back down the center of the head.

3. Start to braid normally by pulling the section closest to the middle of the head across the middle section. Pull the third section, the one closest to the face, across the middle strand like a normal braid.
Continue to braid, pulling the piece closest to the middle of your head and folding over.

4. Let the third section fall with the rest of the hair. Pick up another section, preferably the one right underneath where you are braiding, and replace the one you dropped.

5. Fold the new piece over the second section and continue the braid by picking another piece at the middle of the head, and adding to the first section and folding over. Continue to braid around the head this way, letting the piece closest to your face fall, then picking up a new piece. Keep going around the head as far as you’d like and then pin or tie the braid securely.

6. Make waves in the waterfall with the Cricket Friction Free 1 ¼” Curling Iron.
