How to Dress for Winter Workouts
Cold weather can be intimidating for those not used to exercising outdoors. “Layering is key,” says Stacy, “wearing warm clothes for stretching and warm-ups is a good idea,” adds Stacy, who recommends her clients wear body-hugging workout clothes such as Under Armor to wick away sweat and keep the body insulated during the coldest days of the year. Once warmed up, be careful not to take off too many layers; exposing your skin to cold air can leave it chapped and dry – and even expose you to frostbite. While what you wear during a winter workout might be the first priority on your mind, staying well-hydrated can mean the difference of a great workout and feeling sluggish and tapped for energy. “I always remind my clients that keeping the body adequately hydrated – no matter what the weather – is the key to performance,” says Stacy. By keeping your body well-hydrating and properly insulated you set yourself up for perfect workout conditions; cool air helps keep you feeling refreshed and awake throughout your whole training session! www.stacysbootcamp.com
